Venice Consulting Group and Digitas Team Up for Pontiac G8 Mosaic Launch Site

New web site combines photos and videos to produce an interactive immersive automotive experience

VENICE, CA.  March 21, 2009 — Venice Consulting Group (VCG), a leading software development and consulting firm, in cooperation with Digitas, the first global interactive agency network, have announced the completion and release of a new web site for the launch of the all-new rear wheel drive Pontiac G8 performance sedan. The highly interactive web site includes a dynamic mosaic that includes images and video clips which individually represent a particular take on the nature and spirit of the new G8, and collectively portray a mosaic image of the stunning vehicle.

The mosiac includes interesting factoids on popular culture, sports, movies and Pontiac vehicles. Also intersperced are video clips of historic moments in sports. Photo clips of the new G8’s attention to detail draw the viewer’s eyes, while photo clips of nostalgic memories of cars tug on the viewer’s heart. The goal was to use motion video and still photos to elicit a passionate response of the viewer in line with Pontiac’s “G8 is Car” theme.

Built entirely in Adobe After Effects and Flash, VCG and Digitas completed the project within about six weeks due to the aggressive timeline requirements for the site launch. The major challenge was the complexity of building the introduction movie in After Effects then correlating it to Flash, coordinating it specifically for it to play within the mosaic.

“The new G8 is the next step in Pontiac’s mission to launch high-performance vehicles that resonate with the driver’s soul,” says Jason Costello, manager of delivery management for Digitas. “We selected VCG as our development firm of choice because of their previous award-winning work with other car brands and their strengths in interactive design. They completely surpassed our expectations in creating a stunning site worthy of Pontiac’s passion and excitement for the G8.”

It goes so far beyond the traditional automobile site with their simple feature sets and takes the visitor to another realm of web experience.”

The all-new Pontiac G8 is powered by a 3.6-liter VVT V-6 engine and five-speed automatic transmission and comes equipped with a number of standard convenience and safety features, including StabiliTrak electronic stability control, six airbags and OnStar. The G8 GT ups the ante with a 6.0-liter V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and additional standard equipment.
